Programmes of interest

Argentina. Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security

• Regional programme on labour training and mediation for the blind population.
  This programme has the purpose of putting the labour opportunities of visually challenged people on a par with everyone else's, with the aim of enabling them to access productive life, under the premise that true integration is achieved when they have a job. In such sense, since February 2001, 700 beneficiaries have been trained through training actions that reached 18 provinces. Through this, 118 blind and visually challenged people have found a job in private and public enterprises and microenterprises.
  Additionally, a chain of stands have been set in different provinces with the aim of creating 50 sales points served by visually challenged people.
  

• Unit for people with disabilities and vulnerable groups
  The unit for people with disabilities and vulnerable groups has the objective of developing the policies instrumented by the Ministry in order to improve the labour participation of these groups. Among the programmes run by this unit we find:
  - Labour mediation
  - Labour guidance
  - Business club
  - Job searching programme
  - Programmes on training for private work and freelance work
  - Programmes on sustainable associative development
  - Protected production workshops

Mexico. Ministry of Labour and Social Security

• Opening Spaces Programme
  This programme seeks to support people with disabilities and older adults who are looking for a job. The Ministry joins efforts with other public and private entities oriented to the promotion and hiring of these people, not only by ensuring their incorporation to the productive activity but also their labour development and projection, as well as a total respect in the exercise of their human, political and social rights.
  

Panama. Ministry of Labour and Work Development

• Selective job placement programme for people with disabilities
  This programme, bolstered by the Ministry, has the aim of creating employment opportunities and better labour participation of people with disabilities by mediating and raising awareness of private entrepreneurs.
  

Uruguay. Ministry of Labour and Social Security

• PROCLADIS - Labour training programme for people with disabilities
  It has the aim of increasing the possibilities of access to employment for people with disabilities by means of training and occupational rehabilitation.

• Job-search programme for blind people
  The Labour insertion programme for blind people has the objective of facilitating labour insertion opportunities for blind and low-vision people by means of demand-based training actions.
