"Is vocational training a true aspiration and need of workers?
If so, what kind of need or aspiration is it? Is it possible to reconcile
the wishes and desires of workers with what the labour market demands
of vocational training institutions? Are there contradictions in such
institutions hampering the reorganisation of vocational training with
workers as a target? What pedagogic changes are required to meet workers
needs and aspirations?"
Such questions are landmarks along the theoretical
road of this author who, from the viewpoint of his activities in the
field of training and labour in the National Commercial Training Service
of Brazil (Portuguese acronym SENAC) tries to visualise education in
general and occupational training in particular in the
labour, technological and ideological circumstances of the new millennium.
