In the year 2005, SENATI trained 300,350 participants, exceeding the
figure of 275,997 that were trained in the year 2004.
In addition, it managed to exceed the amount of income coming from
contributions (32.7 per cent) of income generated by courses, services
and other activities (67.24 per cent), being the activities of the National
Information Technology Programme and of the Higher School of Technology
of SENATI the ones that generated the highest income from their courses
and services.
On the other hand, a Workshop on Continuous Improvement was carried
out with the participation of Local Directors, Operational Units Chiefs
and Business Managers in order to offer students methodological tools
to design and implement improvement projects in their Operational Units.
In this context, the process of revising general and specific guidelines
of the Integrated Management System ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 was finished.
This allowed to incorporate improvements to processes and therefore
confirm the commitment with quality and the environment.
According to the procedures established to confirm the effectiveness
of certifications, Bureau Veritas Company conducted half-yearly follow-up
audits to the Integrated Management System, reassuring the effectiveness
and validity of the ISO certifications.
In 2005, the process for the implementation of the Occupational Health
and Safety System began. It is oriented towards improving the safety
and health conditions of members of staff, in an atmosphere of respect
to safety and health at work. Training was provided to workers of different
Operational Units in order to complement their knowledge about quality
and environment management standards with the occupational health and
safety standards mentioned above.
The Textile and Clothing Technological Centre of SENATI was founded
at Lima's headquarters, with the purpose of promoting competitiveness
in the textile-clothing sector and offering laboratory services, audits
and specialised consultancy, as well as the issuance of textile certifications
and training.
Alternatively, SENATI's CENTROPYME Network trained over 28,000 enterprising
women belonging to Mother Clubs and Soup Kitchens all over the country
to handle, maintain and repair gas kitchens with specially developed
methodologies.
The implementation of the first stage of the Information System SINFO
SENATI was consolidated. It benefits both external and internal clients
since it has up-to-date, real and timely information through the Internet.
This experience has been showed as a successful case in Latin America,
within the framework of the Annual Forum on North American Higher Education
celebrated in Puerto Rico in 2005. It has been reckoned that by the
year 2006 the second stage of the SINFO Project will be launched. It
addresses the financial management system, which will allow for a more
efficient use of the institution's resources and will make timely information
available for an appropriate decision-making process.
In 2005, important agreements were signed with entities such as University
Ricardo Palma and the Alliance Française of Lima. The first one
extends the validation of credits of the Degree on Industrial Administration
and Engineering Technician to graduates who wish to follow their university
studies. The second one proposes teaching the French language in SENATI's
Headquarters of Independencia.
In the financial field, it is reckoned that by 2006 there will be the
necessary resources to guarantee the efficient operation and development
of SENATI.
Programme Updating
During this year, updating was continued for occupational profiles,
curricular contents and written teaching material for different occupations
and specialties of SENATI. The purpose is to have appropriate means
to train competent professionals that can satisfy the needs of the industrial
sector.
Support from entrepreneurs who integrate the Employers' Advisory Commissions
of SENATI and Enterprise Trade Unions was obtained to update occupational
profiles and curricular contents
To define occupational profiles, workshops on Participating Occupational
Analysis were carried out with the contribution of specialised technicians
and experts from enterprises.
Based on the approved and validated curricular contents, SENATI's instructors
produce their written teaching material or update the ones available.
It is thought that by 2006 participants will be given the written teaching
material at the moment of enrolment, bearing always in mind their quality
and how timely the delivery is.
