Brasil. SENAI. Responsabilidade social em empresas
industriais brasileiras. Brasilia, 2006. 74p. il.
Nowadays, social responsibility is one of the essential commitments
of enterprises, entrepreneurs and every citizen. It is a concept that
is implicit in SENAI's creation and it is a current value in constant
increase in Brazilian society.
This publication, which was a great effort from SENAI, presents the
results of the Research on Corporate Social Responsibility conducted
on 440 industries of 15 states that have different sizes and belong
to different business sectors.
The purpose is, on one hand, to reflect the perception that the industrial
community has over the issue of social responsibility. On the other,
it seeks to promote a debate on the position of the Institution regarding
this important area of organisational management.
The study highlights that formal actions of corporate social responsibility
are scarcely representative of their importance as a programme that
favours the institutional image, promotes considerable social and economic
benefits and substantial competitive advantages. Several enterprises
interviewed carry out significant work in this field and they admit
that apart from the competitive advantages that social responsibility
adds, many social inequalities can be minimized, thus facilitating the
creation of a fairer and more equitable society.
SENAI's challenge in this area is to place its expertise at the service
of those who wish to develop actions in this field, by supporting initiatives,
training people and offering technical advice.
